CRESCENT ROAD PLAY EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT – UPDATE

Since the play equipment at Crescent Road park was removed there have been many questions as to why it has not been replaced. The reason work has not yet commenced is because Lutterworth Town Council do not own the land at Crescent Road, it is leased from Harborough District Council. Negotiations to purchase the land from Harborough District Council and work on the refurbishment are running concurrently and once the land transfer is complete, the project can move forward.

Lots of work has already been done behind the scenes, play equipment companies have been briefed and first draft designs have been submitted. As part of the funding, Lutterworth Town Council are in the processes of applying for community grants from various sources which means that a public consultation will take place for you to have your say, much like when the Coventry Road park was refurbished.

We want to assure residents that there is every intention of a new play park being installed and no chance of the land being sold off for housing. The land at Crescent Road is classed as a community asset therefore is considered important to the social wellbeing and of interest to the local community and therefore has to remain as open space.

At the present time, we cannot give a timescale as to how long this process will take or when the new park will be installed but every effort is being made to make sure this happens as soon as possible. Please keep your eyes on our social media pages and website for further updates.
